ADRIAN

welcome to his world

Adrian began his story in the suburban desert town of Glendale, Arizona, just outside the bustling capital city of Phoenix. Shortly after birth, he was adopted by a loving family who provided him with opportunities that paved his pathway toward an unconventionally creative career. His father, a South Dakota native, grew up on Long Island, New York. His mother, a Florida native, hailed from outside the Orlando area. Thanks to their far-flung roots, Adrian’s parents ensured their son traveled tens of thousands of miles by the time he started kindergarten.

In 2003, Adrian moved with his family to Jacksonville, Florida. Two years later, his father passed away unexpectedly, which inspired Adrian’s mother to register her son for piano lessons as a healthy outlet during this dark season in their lives. He excelled academically. He had entered high school at the age of twelve, and regularly participated in both state and national piano competitions. Adrian even delivered an impromptu performance of Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” on the piano of the Florida Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee during a school trip.

In 2013, Adrian earned his high school diploma at the age of sixteen, accompanied by an A.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Trinity Baptist College. He continued his studies at the same college with dual majors in Business and History, specializing his independent research in Canada-U.S. relations, an interest that would influence many future projects. When Adrian received his B.S. degree in 2015, he was the youngest graduate to receive a four-year degree in the school’s history.

Adrian worked as a church pianist during his college career, allowing him to quietly establish his professional music career with the publishing and debuts of his first original pieces, Cello Canto No. 1, “The Lullaby,” and then Piano Reverie No. 1. After college, he found work as a full-time high school math and music history teacher, while on the side pursuing his first full-length album, The Pirates of Penzance: Revamped and Revisited. The album was released at the end of 2016 to the accolades of various notable performers who featured in prior national and international productions of the original operetta. Adrian’s new fans included Robby Benson, Karla DeVito, Patricia Routledge, among others.

Despite all the growth Adrian was celebrating in his budding musical career, he realized he was not satisfied in his current station in life. While teaching could be fulfilling, he quickly discovered it was not the end-all to everything for him. He yearned for better opportunities to continue developing his talents and building upon his own knowledge. He eventually left his teaching post and moved on to the aviation world, reuniting at last with one of his earliest childhood loves.

Now with creative energy in one hand and access to travel in the other, Adrian achieved a more proper balance to inspire others as well as himself. Today, Adrian presents himself with a new personal brand of FarawayHolmes™. He aims to share his growth, his art, and his adventures through this metamorphosing identify that shall always find itself home faraway from the mundane life on the shores of inspiration and adventure.
